Hakka Republic is KL's newest Bar with a great Bistro attached. Our chef has spent 10 years in a hugely popular restaurant in Tokyo and at Hakka republic we pride ourselves on offering quality at an affordable price. We are SAFELY located on the 2nd Floor of Menara Hap Seng (the old MUI Plaza) on Jalan P Ramlee in KL. There is plenty of brightly lit, secure parking (after 5pm) in the basement with a lift straight up to our Bar & Bistro.
Our Chinese themed Bar with separate private areas and the understated style Bistro has attracted a lot of attention. Beyond the striking design and the great sound system, Hakka Republic offers quality and great value. Our wine list is one of the best in town offering you a breadth of different styles from different regions. Our Bistro is already winning acclaim for some of its specialities. However,we believe we can improve substantially but our kitchen has got off to a good start.
Our opening hours are: By the way, the name Hakka Republic is not meant to encourage any notions of ethnic or dialectic superiority but it celebrates the spirit of those people that founded what many consider to be the first modern Republic in the the world, the Lang Fang Republic in 1777(ten years before the USA became a republic) in West Kalimantan. It lasted for 107 years and had 10 Presidents until it was overrun by the Dutch in 1884. The LangFang Republic coexisted with the local Sultanate and helped protect it from attacks by other Sultans.
